Real Zaragoza's Argentine defender Gabriel Milito signs for Barcelona for 20million EURO

It could all have been so different for Gabriel Milito if his supposed 2003 transfer from Independiente to Real Madrid hadn't fallen on the twin swords of a failed medical and political wrangling against sporting director Jorge Valdano but Milito didn't let it ruin his career. His subsequent move to Real Zaragoza allowed him a chance to shine in La Liga and after 138 games, he signed for Barcelona this summer for a fee of around 20million EURO.
It will be a wrench for Milito to leave Zaragoza especially with his brother Diego still at the club but the opportunity to play for Barcelona can come along only once in a lifetime and, after the disappointment at not making it to Real Madrid four years ago, Gabriel Milito was in no mood to turn it down.
