Definition: A kick which results in a lofted ball. A lob is often employed to beat a goalkeeper who is off his line. A lob is accomplished by kicking the underside of the ball to achieve height.

Examples: As the goalkeeper approached, the striker lobbed the ball over him and into the goal.
