Dead Ball

Definition: A situation when the ball is not in play, e.g. when a ball has gone over the line for a goal kick, corner or throw-in, or when a free-kick has been awarded. It also applies at each kick-off, either at the start of each half or after a goal has been scored. Players can position the ball with their hands before restarting play.
