Cul-de-Sac

Definition:

A French word meaning a dead end or close. In soccer, it is used to describe a player running with the ball into an area of the field where he can have little affect on the game.

Examples:

The winger ran down a cul-de-sac and, with no one to pass to, lost the ball.
