Definition: A term that often describes the most dynamic and complete player(s) in a team. A box-to-box midfielder is a player capable of defending at one end but also playing a prominent role in his team’s attacking moves at the other end of the field. Players in this mould generally possess a good engine, stamina, passing ability, strong tackling and finishing prowess.
Examples: The midfielder put in an excellent tackle in his own penalty area before busting a lung to get up the other end of the field and finish off the attacking move by scoring a goal.
